On August 15, we commemorate Korea’s Liberation Day, known as Gwangbokjeol (광복절). This meaningful day marks Korea’s liberation in 1945 and honors the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who worked for Korea’s independence. As we celebrate the 81st anniversary of Korea’s liberation, we remember their sacrifices with gratitude and carry forward the spirit of freedom and hope for future generations.

On Korean Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and peace of Korea.

March 1st Independence Movement Day (Samiljeol) is a Korean national holiday commemorating March 1, 1919, when the Korean people declared independence from Japanese colonial rule. On this day, peaceful demonstrations began in Seoul and quickly spread nationwide, with citizens shouting “Long Live Korean Independence.” The movement became a significant turning point that led to the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
