낙스빌 지역 한인과 주민들께,

​

제가 처음으로 자원봉사자로 일을 시작한것은 Atlanta Emory Clinic에서 입니다. 2008년에 봉사자로 일해달라는 요청을 받고 시작한 봉사활동은 10년정도 하게되었고, 그 동안 많은사람들이 누군가가 자신들이 처해 있는 어려움을 이해하고 동감한다는 이유만으로도 많은 위로를 받는다는 것을 배우게 되었습니다.

낙스빌 한인회에 봉사활동을 시작한 이유도 내가 할수있는 일을 도우며 지역 한인들께 힘이 되었으면 하는 바램으로 시작했습니다.

​

미국이라는 타지에 살고 있는 한인들께 작으나마 고향의 향수를 달랠수 있는행사를 마련하고 지역사회에 우리 한국의 문화를 나누며 친목을 도모할수있는 일을 할수 있어서 기쁩니다. 앞으로도 어른신들께 위로가 되고 자라는 차세대가 한국문화와 함께할수 있는 기회를 마련 할수있는 행사를 하고 싶습니다. 물론 계속적인 지역사회와의 관계개선에도 항상 노력할것 입니다.

To my fellow members of the East Tennessee community,

​

I am amazed every day to witness the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and the East Tennessee area in which it lies. Because of which, I love living here in Tennessee—and the United States.

 

I joined the Knoxville Area Korean American Association in 2019, because I believed that as a Korean-American, it was my duty to support and promote the Korean community here. My first experience with volunteering was in Atlanta helping ALS patients at the Emory Clinic. Since then, I have continued to volunteer in various capacities, eventually coming to East Tennessee and helping with KAKAA. I realized the need so many people have for love and compassion through such. From these experiences, I committed to myself to live my life so that I can be a positive influence to those around me.

 

I am proud to live in the United States where we can embrace different cultures. There are so many things we can learn and share with each other. When we understand and embrace our uniqueness, we can build strong connections within our own communities.

 

My vision for the Knoxville Area Korean American Association is to continue building a strong friendship here in the Beautiful Smoky Mountain area between the Korean-American community and the Greater Knoxville residents.
